Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov will leave Manchester United at the end of the season after he was deemed to be too slow for the Red Devils’ fast-paced attacking style. That’s according to the 31-year-old’s agent, Emil Danchev, who said:

“I had three meetings with Sir Alex. He’ll try to build a team for the next three or four years and Berbatov isn’t part of this.”

“Ferguson wants to change the playing style, to implement more speed. I’m pleased United will not oppose Berbatov’s move in the summer.”

Currently, Berbatov is behind Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez in the striking pecking order at United, and has only made 10 Premier League appearances this season.

Still, with his amount of natural talent and goalscoring prowess, surely there’ll be a queue of suitors lining up to take him, even if he is in his thirties? Maybe a move back to White Hart Lane is on the cards?

He has been great for us. Hope he does well.

  2. 4EVERED says:

We so should have bought Huntelaar at the time.

  3. Davy says:

We’ll have him at the toon!!

  4. Mr. Sparkle says:

I wouldn’t want this sod back at Tottenham. He thought he was too good for the team. He can rot somewhere else.

  5. T-Bags says:

I for one, would gladly welcome him at The Emirates. The man scores goals!

  6. Alan says:

United might attempt to snag Modric using Berba..
I wouldn’t see why Tottenham would agree to that tho..

  7. RM says:

Realize big clubs need depth for squad rotation and injury purposes but a shame to see a first class striker on the bench (and what it does to his confidence). Was the money and the big club “prestige” worth it, Berba?

  8. Piesfanfromgermany says:

I seriously adore this man. He is the kind of player who’s intelligent enough to create situations or goals 90% of the other players would never have thought of.
I hope he’ll get his last three or four years of first team football where he can show the magic again.

Can’t really see him staying in the Prem if I’m honest, although that depends on how well settled he is (why football players have kids & families in their 20’s I’ll never know). Can imagine him fitting in with an Italian club in the same vein as Zlatan’s playing style.

@KingEric7: Yep, Serie A would be a good bet. Or perhaps Bundesliga 1 / Ligue 1?

Somewhere like PSG or Borussia Dortmund.

Good luck Berba, thanks for the goals!

  11. jeremyboykin says:

Berbatov is class and he lets birds fly left and right

  12. Guy says:

Borussia Dortmund wouldn’t work because of the pace that team likes to play at, maybe Borussia Monchengladbach as it looks like they will end up in European competition next year.
I would say PSG would be a nice deal for him, considering the money the new ownership is splashing around.
Serie A has some possibilities, he could go pair himself with Klose at Lazio (I would like to see that combo). Or maybe Inter, if they can figure out what the hell they are doing, because Forlan only scores for the national team at this point…

  13. Andy Carroll's Ponytail says:

Pity Brucie is gone. Otherwise for sure he’ll have ended up at the Stadium of Light!

  14. lordrt says:

he could well be on the way to dortmund, if united were to try get the likes of götze or kagawa

  15. KingB3113 says:

Treated very unfairly by SAF. I’m really happy for him and actually think he should’ve put in a transfer request the moment Fergie snubbed him for the Champions League Final, but full credit to him he said he wanted to stay and fight for a place.
