On this day in 1946, one George Best was born in Belfast and a footballing icon was bequeathed unto the world. Happy 66th George!

As seen here in these brilliant archive photos from his late 60s/early 70s pomp, the man defined footballing cool up until it all sadly caught up with and duly got the better of him in later life (click any image for the full-size version)…

As a man from Belfast, may I just ask you to shut yer bakes.

George is a legend, and if you’re going to drag up his entire life then why not do that with some other legends?

    No man is perfect.

I remember George Best as the best footballer we’ve ever had, and at that one of the best the world has ever seen.

Not bad for a wee country in between the UK and Ireland with a tiny population.

    Happy birthday George, cheers m8!

  8. Correct no man is perfect don’t judge people by what you read and hear he was a gentleman whom I had the pleasure of meeting and watch him play football a genius proved it on mudy pitches with a heavy old ball RIP Bestie The Belfast Boy
