‘Man Utd To Blame For My Eight-Game Ban’ – Liverpool’s Luis Suarez Reignites Evra Race Row

Oh dear, here we go again! Despite being told to keep schtum on the issue by his Liverpool bosses, striker Luis Suarez has had a right pop at Man Utd on Uruguayan TV, blaming the Red Devils’ ‘political power’ for influencing the FA’s decision to ban him over the infamous Patrice Evra race row. In the interview with TV show RR Gol, the Suarez said:

“It was so hard what happened to me. I don’t show my emotions on the field, but outside I do – and I cried a lot with all the Evra stuff. The trial week was so complicated for me. My wife and I cried a lot during that week.”

“People at the club are sure that it was a way that Manchester United used to put me out of the team and stop Liverpool. But in England, Man United has this political power, and you have to respect that and shut your mouth.”

“It was a misunderstanding, what happened between me and Evra at Old Trafford when we were to shake hands. In fact, I think it was all arranged against me again, as it had happened with the punishment. I promised my wife, the manager and the directors that I was going to shake my hand with Evra. Why not?, I thought, because I had no problems with him.

“I had been punished because of him, but I had no problems with shaking hands. But I was not forced to greet him. I had no problems with Evra. It was only a handshake and I was OK with that.

“The media in England showed the moment when I passed in front of him, but they didn’t see that he had his hand low before. Only the media in Uruguay and Spain showed that I wanted to shake his hand.”

It looks like this particular race row won’t be going away quite yet. While the claim that United have a lot of political clout in English football is nothing new, it’s sure to stir up one heck of a hornets’ nest in the north-west.

    Boo Fucking Hoo.

  2. Erik says:

Yeah, he really tried to shake Evra’s hand, but Evra was the one backing out. This guy is a joke. He was the most hated player in the Eredivise and he is on his good way to become so in the Premiership aswell. Dump this clown Rodgers!

Oh not again. I might start following tennis or something.

  4. Al says:

so, in conclusion, Man United are cunts and so are all their supporters, it’s a valid point

“I don’t show my emotions on the field”
Yeah, I’ve NEVER seen him flailing with his arms and pouting when something goes wrong on the pitch… #Sarcasm

  6. Dave says:

so, in conclusion, Luis Suarez is a racist cunt and everybody hates him, it’s a proven point

  8. Graham says:

Suarez’s statement sounds more like it was written by one of those RAWK-dwelling conspiracy trolls.

I don’t feel bad saying I had a laugh each time I read that he cried over this. You f’n started it, you twit.

  9. Milkchew says:

Evra does drop his hand slightly as Suarez approaches him, that can be cleary seen. But Suarez should of extended his hand further and forced a handshake, not just walk off. Plus dragging all this back up again…..well done.

The prawn-sandwich brigade is out in force on the comment section today.

  14. Scouse Blue Jay says:

Ever wonder why it’s only Liverpool fans defending Suarez? He admitted saying the word, he kept changing his story. I’d rather not condone racist, just because he’s our star player. Get a life. Most of you aren’t even from Liverpool, hence plastic Scousers.

be a really men, black or white is not what we want but football as a game of pleasure for the fans. collect urself luis

  16. SwissMafia says:

Yes, everyone knows that evra dropped his hand a little bit, but if Suarez would have been smart he would have gone the extra inch (yes the extra inch… its not like evra pulled his hand away far enough for it not to be reached) to grab Evra’s hand he would have become the bigger man and therefore making evra look ridiculous rather then the other way around. But good for Suarez that he took the bait, he deserves no less. I have no patience for people who racially abuse someone during a game, then pretend to ignore that its a racial term in the country that he has been living in for more then, well, long enough, and then think its worth crying over with his family even though he started it. It’s not like this 8 match ban made him poor, or stopped liverpool from the title. Grow up SON!

  17. Mr. T says:

@Karan – my bets are on Suarez demolishing United but we shall see. :)

That said, Evra clearly dunked his hand and I dont see how a person who does not feel he is guilty should take the ‘high road’ and ‘extend his hand’ to ‘force a hand shake’. That’s just bollocks. Personally if I feel I have been wronged, I would not go out of my way to shake someone’s hand who placed me in that position. The FA were clearly biased, for those who have not read the FA statute, uttering words relating to a player’s ethnic origins is a statutory offence (intent is not relevant) and Evra’s statement to FA had an admission that he made such remarks, yet he was not charged.

Finally, Evra is a scumbag. He has falsely accused people in the past. I am sure he will do it again. He incited rebellion in his own national team’s camp, and also wiped his ass with his country’s shirt. What a prick. That people support him is quite frankly strange.

  18. pray4muamba says:

ahh yes it was the media/man u’s fault for him not shaking evra’s hand. of course! shoulda known

  19. Graham says:

    Toz,

I think there are equal amounts of people commenting that are drinking the Kop Kool-Aid.

  20. Ben says:

    Evra is a little bitch

  21. dave says:

Move on lad. Youve made a big enough tit of yourself already.

  22. West End Blues says:

Clearly been working on this defence with David Icke, a smart move. I personally have more respect for him now.

  23. plops says:

There’s some people in here that could do with dropping the odd capital letter and some punctation into their posts. Blimey.

  24. C says:

    @plops
    It’s a comment section, not a CV

  25. Richard says:

How many times in your life have you misfired a handshake?

  26. plops says:

@C I’m talking about the comments that are barely readable, not the ones where people miss the odd comma out. Comment no.12 is a fine example. Oof.

  27. C says:

@plops I see your point. That was rather dreadful.
