While both Alex Buttner and Shinji Kagawa have bedded in nicely at Old Trafford, they apparently still need to finesse their UK communication skills after flipping the bird to a photographer in the dressing room after the Red Devils’ 4-0 win over Wigan.

They seem rather happy, so one can only imagine they mixed up their finger gestures?

    *Alex Büttner

  4. Ben says:

    Well, its rather stupid.

  5. spanky says:

they were merely implying a soon to be mutual two-sided rectal examination.

  6. nat says:

Not a mix up…this is a universal gesture used since the Mayan civilization. More of a “U MAD BRO” expression.

  7. You cant judge them…different cultures different ways of life.. I actually thing in Japan flipping someone off suggests deep feelings of respect for this person…A tradition that goes way back to the years of the tokugawa shogunate and was firstly used by samurais belonging to this clan as a sign of affection towards their male concubines. But the same tradition survives in modern Japan too. But the old meaning of this gesture is fading, and now only suggests a deep feeling of eagerness to rape a 18 year old schoolgirl, with large round eyes, using long alien tentacles. Thus making it impossible for this gesture to be used outside japan with this same resonance…
While in Japan, as i mentioned in my precedent paragraph, middle finger is an affectionate gesture, in Netherlands it merely suggests that the guy using this gesture is on pot.

  9. a Japanese says:

    Dont’t misundersutand them, please.
They sent personally this pic.to their mutual friend just for joking who is a Japanese footballer.
and Shinji’s fan found it and retweeted it.

That means ‘fuck you’ in every part of the world exept UK. You are the wrong one man.

  11. Jarren says:

@Bruno: Yeah, in the UK this gesture is actually a very polite way of greeting someone.

For example, when seeing your grandmother across the street.

You’d do this gesture towards her while shouting “YO, BITCH”.

Of course “yo, bitch” does not mean the same thing in the UK.

We’re such an enigma, I know!

  12. Bruno says:

    @Jarren
Thanks for the explanation. I guess that’s why you drive in the wrong side, right?
