Man Utd Young’n Ryan Tunnicliffe Makes 10-Minute Cameo vs Newcastle, Decade-Old Bet Lands Dad Cool £10,000
By Chris Wright
In replacing Marnick Vermiji for the last ten minutes of Manchester United B’s 2-1 win over Newcastle United Fringe XI in the League Cup tonight, young Ryan Tunnicliffe saw his Dad cash in on a £100 bet he made with a friend almost a decade ago.
Back when Tunnicliffe was just nine-years old, his old man had a ton on his sprog playing for the United first team one day, with his mate giving him odds of 100/1. Skip forward ten years and Tunnicliffe, now 19, toddles on to the pitch at Old Trafford to make his United bow – thus meaning his Dad ended the night a cool £10,000 better off than he was at half-time.
Not a bad night’s work, eh? Reckon Fergie might be getting a bottle of red courtesy of Tunnicliffe Snr. very soon.

I seem to remember Chris Kirkland’s dad making a similar bet about him getting an England cap, though I don’t think it was quite so much of a return.
Ahhhhhhh, Kirkland’s, I tell ya.
