Manchester United 2-1 Southampton – Premier League – 30th January 2013
Manchester United came from a goal down at home to Southampton to win the game 2-1, a result which puts them seven points clear at the top of the table.
Jay Rodriguez opened the scoring for the visitors after just three minutes when he made the most of a horrendopus Michael Carrick back-pass. However, within five minutes, Wayne Rooney had levelled the scores after good play from Shinji Kagawa. The former Everton man then put his side 2-1 up midway through the first-half, netting not long after Kagawa had hit the post.
In the second-half, the Saints rallied and came close to snatching a precious equaliser but ultimately the Red Devils would take all three points as they head towards another Premier League title. Southampton, on the other hand, stay 16th, three points clear of danger.
