Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Manchester United v Arsenal - Old Trafford

An Arsenal fan in Uganda now has two reasons to despise Robin van Persie after the ex-Gunner’s goal saw Manchester United pip his former team at Old Trafford last weekend and thus rendered the poor fan homeless due to a stupidly huge pre-game wager with his United-supporting friend.

Henry Dhabasani staked his two-roomed house on Arsenal beating United in the bet with his friend Rashid Yiga, who, in turn, staked his Toyota and his wife (!) on United rolling Arsenal over.

The pair then put their wager in writing while local leaders and fans witnessed the deal being agreed.

According to the Ugandan Observer, Dhabasani, who has five children and is married to three wives, fainted at the end of the game after Arsenal lost 1-0 and the next day several United fans who had witnessed the bet turned up at his house and threw him and his family out on the street.

There’s probably a lesson in there somewhere.
