Manchester United 0-1 Everton – Premier League – 4th December 2013

Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Manchester United v Everton - Old Trafford

Poor old David Moyes, after failing to win at Old Trafford while in charge of the Toffees, the United boss witnessed his former side pull off a fabulous 1-0 win at that very ground on Wednesday night.

Costa Rican Bryan Oviedo scored again in a game where the home side struggled to click, although they did create a few good chances. 12 points off the top with 14 games gone, are the Red Devils now out of the title race? Everton go fifth.

Until manchester united is sucked into a relegation battle the Glaziers will not take action notably get rid of that idiot called moyes & his entire backroom staff(no consideration for phil neville) & ed woodward shld go bck to marketing if not the global brand manu is gone for good.

  2. The Power of One says:

Poor ol’ ManU. It is astounding that one man had so much influence over the team for so many years. Now he is gone, they are back in the real world.

Got to love all the doomsayers writing off United & Moyes after half a season.

I think people are too used to the “new manager in, quick fix” aesthetic.

How often does that work in the long term?

As all true Arsenal supporters have stayed loyal to Wenger, all true United supporters will stay loyal to Moyes.

    Through good times and bad.

Or have these so-called “fans” forgotten Sir Alex’s farewell speech at Old Trafford last season?

  4. syndex says:

The problem Moyes has is he is still trying to manage Everton but with Man U’s squad, Evra is not Baines he has pace and not the crossing accuracy, Let Rooney off his leash to play to his style and accept what you should have know from you time with us Felli is a Midfield destructor and only an axillary creative player so use someone else.
Yesterday we outworked and for periods outplayed Man U it was not fluke and we didn’t steal one which should be the most worrying thing because any team can have a bad run Man U are just flat out not very good at the moment. That said we were excellent and it is brilliant for a player as loyal as Bryan O to score the winner.

  5. JLBK says:

I agree with most of what syndex says except for the part about Moyes trying to manage Everton but with United’s squad. At Everton Moyes realized his limitations in depth and overall talent so he was extremely defensive in a lot of situations. If Everton were tied with 10-15 mins left, he would sub on a defensive minded player to hang on to the point. That hasn’t really been his MO at United – he’s been much more attacking in situations where we are drawing and has brought on attacking players to go for the three points. Sometimes it has burnt him as it did yesterday.

He took Rafael and Kagawa off, moved Valencia to RB and put Januzaj and Nani in the midfield. Valencia is good defensively but he’s no right back and of course the goal was scored from the right. If you watch the replay, Valencia is sleeping and 3-4 meters away from Oviedo. Tactically that was a risky move, but it could have gone the other way and won us the game. Every manager has to take chances at times and despite losing, I think it was the right decision.

The main issue is the team on the field – they have to work harder. Everton beat us because they outworked us in every position. In the last 10 minutes, there wasn’t a 50-50 ball that we won convincingly (or won at all) and that’s down to Everton wanting it more. At times you can blame a manager but that one was down to the desire of the players (or lack thereof!).

We are far too dependent on a midfield that is not up to scratch at the moment. Felaini is a decent player but he is clearing having trouble adjusting. Carrick is missed dearly in games like this.

Some excellent points, syndex & JLBK.

How refreshing to read intelligent discussion from supporters of different teams.

  7. Terry Shedingham says:

Surely those calling for Moyes to be sacked are just kids who’re drunk on the way the Premier League operates nowadays? Do they think Alex Ferguson was an instant success when he started at Old Trafford?
