Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Chelsea v Southampton - Stamford Bridge

Seems that things are moving forward apace in the ‘Juan Mata to Manchester United’ department, with BBC Sport, ITV and several newspaper journalists all reporting that United have now gone and lodged an official bid for the Chelsea attacker believed to be “in the region of £35million.”

Indeed, several sources are reporting that Mata didn’t train with Chelsea today and is edging out of the door as we speak, with Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph even adding a little colour to proceedings with this #ITK-style Tweet…

Now, we totally grasp the concept that, in these FFP-fearing times, flogging a player who is currently not in your first choice line-up or £35-40million represents sound business (no matter how good he may be) but what we can’t comprehend is why Chelsea are so eager to sell Mata to United when surely he has other suitors elsewhere (PSG, Atletico Madrid, etc)?

Que?
