Stoke City 2-1 Manchester United – Premier League – 1st February 2014
David Moyes’ nightmare season continued on Saturday as he saw his side go down 2-1 at the Britannia Stadium. The Red Devils started with Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata but fell behind on 38 minutes courtesy of a wickedly deflected Charlie Adam effort. By half-time, both of United’s centre-backs had succumbed to injury, meaning Michael Carrick spent the majority of the game as a makeshift centre-half. United did get back on level terms, courtesy of fine Van Persie effort just after half-time, but soon after Adam struck again, this time with a superb long-range strike. Both sides then had chances to score again but ultimately the Potters stood firm to record their first-ever Premier League win over United, who continue to struggle under Moyes.
