They call me ‘Mellow Yellow’
Manchester United have confirmed that Wes Brown suffered a… drum roll please …broken metatarsal in his left foot during United’s win over Wolves on Saturday.
The injury means that Brown could be sidelined for as long as three months, thus ruling him out of England’s World Cup campaign. The United man would have almost certainly been on the plane to Rustenberg, due to his ability to provide cover at both centre back and right back.
It is thought that England manager Fabio Capello may now turn to Brown’s vastly experienced team mate, 35 year old Gary Neville, to provide cover for first choice right back Glen Johnson in South Africa.
I can’t help thinking: wouldn’t Phil Neville be a better bet?
