Everton 2-0 Manchester United – Premier League – 20th April 2014
David Moyes endured a disappointed return to his old Everton stomping ground, seeing his poor United side lose by two goals to nil. The Toffees were the better side throughout and went ahead after Phil Jones handled Romelu Lukaku’s goal-bound effort. Leighton Baines converted the resulting spot-kick while Kevin Mirallas added a second just before the break.
In the second period, the visitors rarely threatened while the Goodison crowd gave poor old Moyesy quite the hostile reception. Maybe Roberto Martinez should have been Manchester United’s first choice ahead of Moyes?
Everton stay a point behind fourth-placed Arsenal while the Red Devils are seventh, 12 points behind the Toffees.
