David Moyes, in conjunction with the League Managers Association, has issued a statement following his sacking as Manchester United manager yesterday.

The statement reads:

“To have been appointed as manager of Manchester United, one of the biggest football clubs in the world, was and remains something of which I will always be incredibly proud.

“Taking charge after such a long period of continuous stability and success at the club was inevitably going to be a significant challenge, but it was one which I relished and never had a second thought about taking on.

“The scale of the manager’s job at United is immense, but I have never stepped away from hard work and the same applies to my coaching staff. I thank them for their dedication and loyalty throughout the last season.

“We were fully focused and committed to the process of the fundamental rebuilding that is required for the senior squad. This had to be achieved whilst delivering positive results in the Barclays Premier League and the Champions League. However, during this period of transition, performances and results have not been what Manchester United and its fans are used to or expect, and I both understand and share their frustration.

“In my short time at the club I have learnt what special places Old Trafford and Carrington are. I would like to thank the United staff for making me feel so welcome and part of the United family from my first day. And of course thank you to those fans who have supported me throughout the season. I wish you and the club all the best for the future.

“I have always believed that a manager never stops learning during his career and I know I will take invaluable experience from my time as United’s manager. I remain proud to have led the team to the quarter finals of this year’s Champions League and I remain grateful to Sir Alex Ferguson for believing in my ability and giving me the chance to manage Manchester United.”

Good lad. No unnecessary slanging, recriminations or excuses. Very dignified – in fact it’s an awful lot more dignified that the manner in which his sacking came about.

No mention of the United players. If you’ve got nothing nice to say, etc, etc…

That said, we’re just going to leave this here…

Made us giggle, so it did!

Moyes is wise enough to understand the mantra of modern football – you either win trophies or society says you’re a bum.

But I think hes also wise enough to not give a damn.

There are reasons for him not succeeding as such – he could write a list a mile long im sure but why should he justify himself. Ignorant people will never, ever understand anyway.

The mercenaries that pushed Moyes off the cliff (they know who they are) should be careful what they wish for because they may just get it.

Moyes is a good man – lets never forget that.

    Moyes for Barça!

Well, turns out the secret message doesn’t in fact match. Yes, I took the time to check it myself. But that would have been an amazing masterstroke by Moyes!

  4. Jarren says:

The offers will come rolling in for him.

One of the 3 promoted Championship clubs may be tempted in the summer.

Not a nice thing to sack a manager after getting promotion, but I’ve seen it before.

  5. squiggle says:

I could see him doing a very good job at Newcastle.

My 3 year old could do a good job at Newcastle! #PardewOut

Totslly agreed with the top comment. Moyes sack definitely proved that modern football merchandising goals are more important than the unique mentality of our club ! He didn’t have even the chance to build his own team ! THe pressure he had was immense. Why didn’t people say a thing about brendan rodgers last season ? Obviously, because there wasn’t any pressure on him, he wasn’t trying to succed a 27 year old philosophy injected in the club accros different periods of football-developement, Moyes was ! Frankly, plastic stupid fans is not what we need right now, hope they all left the club already !
