Manchester United 0-1 Southampton – Premier League – 11th January 2015
Southampton strengthened their Champions League credentials at Old Trafford on Sunday, with their win keeping them well in the hunt for a top four finish.
United struggled to create a lot of chances and failed to direct a single shot on target in the whole game as the Saints remained solid throughout. The winning goal eventually came on 69 minutes, courtesy of a measured finish from sub Dusan Tadic after Graziano Pelle had hit the post. The hosts rallied after that goal, but Juan Mata missed the best of their late chances as Louis Van Gaal’s ultimately lost at home for the first time since the opening day of the season.
The Saints stay third, 10 points behind league leaders Chelsea while the Red Devils, in fourth, are now just a point ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal
