Transfer Balls: Rounding up the day’s football tittle-tattle so you don’t have to…

City Do Poznan For Pogba

Manchester City are preparing a massive £70million move for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, according to the Star. The ex-Man Utd star has enjoyed another outstanding season in both Serie A and the Champions League and his seen by the Citizens as the man to revitalise an ageing, under-performing squad.

City’s billionaire owner Sheikh Mansour is willing to fork out the cash for Pogba with the Citizens planning to offer the star a nice little weekly wage of £250,000 after tax. While the likes of PSG, Chelsea and indeed the Red Devils are all sniffing ’round the Juve man, City are confident their financial muscle can land the 22-year-old.

Van Gaal Values Benzema

According to the Star, Real Madrid are considering cashing in on striker Karim Benzema, with both Manchester United and Arsenal keen on the French hitman. Currently injured, the 27-year-old has been a mainstay in the Madrid side since joining from Lyon in 2009. However, the Spanish giants are looking to add some more youth to their attacking ranks, and feel that Benzem’a value of £40million is the highest it will ever be.

Sir Alex Ferguson was a bit fan of the muscular striker and with Louis van Gaal eager to add some big names to his Red Devils’ squad, Benzema would be an ideal addition. However, Arsene Wenger, who is another long-term fan of the player, is also thought to be interested. Still, file this one under ‘vague speculation’.

Baggies Bounce For Scott

The Mirror reports that Tony Pulis is eager to bring Scott Sinclair to the Hawthorns in the Summer. The wideman, currently on loan at Aston Villa from Man City, has been pushed out of the Villans’ starting 11 by Jack Grealish. Tim Sherwood is hoping to still sign the 26-year-old on a permanent deal this summer with a fee apparently already agreed but the Baggies are now planning a £2.5million swoop of their own.

Interestingly, Sinclair, who has just one year left on his current City deal, spent last season on loan at the Hawthorns where he failed to impress under Steve Clarke of Pepe Mel. However, Pulis could be the man to resurrect the gifted attacker’s career.

Tom Loves Tim

Staying with Aston Villa, Tom Cleverley hopes to makes his current loan spell with the club permanent, according to the Telegraph, Mail and a whole load of ‘papers. The midfielder has blossomed under Tim Sherwood and with his current deals with the Red Devils ending in June, he wants to stay with the resurgent Villans.

He said: “You’ve just got to be happy first of all and I am at this club, so let’s see where we go from there.” So expect the 25-year-old to be at Villa next season, unless another Premier League club comes in with a better offer, that is.
