Transfer Balls: Rounding up the day’s football tittle-tattle so you don’t have to…
Arsenal In For Aubameyang
According to the Star, Arsenal are readying a big-money move for Borussia Dortmund attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang . The 26-year-old flyer is eyeing a move away from the after Jurgen Klopp’s departure, with the Gunners ready to splash out £28million for the player who can play all across the front-line.
For all the Gabon forward’s pace and skill, Arsenal already have a plethora of speedy attackers (Sanchez, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Welbeck) so this one looks unlikely at best.
Reds Finalise Firmino Deal
The Express tells us that Brazilian schemer, Roberto Firmino, an apparent target for MAnchester United, will sign for Liverpool. The 23-year-old has shone for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga but is now on the verge of an £18million move to Anfield.
Currently doing the business for Brazil at the Copa America, Firmino would no doubt link up nicely with fellow countryman Philippe Coutinho as Brendan Rodgers tries to rebuild after a poor 2014/15.
Red Devils Ready For Quadruple Summer Splurge
The Mirror report that Louis Van Gaal is set to splurge £150million on a tantalising quarter of Jasper Cillessen, Sergio Ramos, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Karim Benzema. With David De Gea looking likely to move to Real Madrid, Dutch international ‘keeper Cillessen could replace the Spaniard at Old Trafford. Going in the opposite direction to De Gea could be defender Ramos, who is currently disgruntled over contract talks, and French hitman Benzema. Add in German legend Schweinsteiger and you have quite the glamorous bunch.
Whether or not United will bag all four remains to be seen, but expect one or two at least to be lining out at Old Trafford next season.
Chelsea Seek Out Charlie
The Metro tell us that Premier League champs Chelsea are in for QPR striker Charlie Austin. A target for the likes of West Ham, Newcastle and Liverpool, the 25-year-old is keen to stay in the south of England, ruling out the Magpies and the Reds. However, with the Blues willing to stump up the £15million asking price, Austin would surely jump at the chance to join up with Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.
The former Burnley attacker would take the place of the departing Loic Remy in the Blues’ squad although this all sounds rather unlikely.
The best/worst of the rest:
Newcastle United are open to selling Papiss Cissé, Swansea are willing to sell Michu for a cut-price £4million while Fenerbahce want Man Utd winger Nani for £7million.
