Transfer Balls: Rounding up the day’s football tittle-tattle so you don’t have to…

Louis Likes Lewandowski

Louis Van Gaal’s summer splurge is set to continue, according to the Telegraph, with Robert Lewandowski in the Red Devils’s sights and set to follow in the footsteps of United new-boy Bastian Schweinsteiger. Questions remain as to whether the traditional centre-forward fits into Pep Guardiola’s system at Bayern Munich, with rumours suggesting that the 26-year-old could be sold this summer.

With Robin Van Persie and Javier Hernandez both leaving Old Trafford, there is a shortage of striking options at United, and Lewandowski would definitely compliment the likes of Memphis Depay and Wayne Rooney. Although a reported £44million price-tag may prove a stumbling block.

Reds Move For Medel

Fresh from winning the Copa America, Chile midfielder Gary Medel could be on his way to Liverpool, according to the Metro. The Inter Milan star is highly-valued by his current club but reports from Spanish outlet fichajes.net suggest that the 27-year-old former Cardiff City player is keen to return to the Premier League.

A pitbull in the heart of midfield, Medel would definitely provide the requisite bite to allow the likes of Jordan Henderson, Robert Firmino and Phillipe Coutinho to pull the strings.

Spurs Bid For Batshuayi

Tottenham are eyeing a move for Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi, according to the Mirror. The Belgian striker bagged nine goals in 23 games for L’OM last season and Mauricio Pochettino wants the 21-year-old to partner Harry Kane in attack for the Lilywhites.

Available for £9million, Batshuayi would find it easy to settle at White Hart Lane, with a sizeable Belgian contingent already present (including new-signing Toby Alderweireld). With Spurs priced out of a move for Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke, a move for the Marseille hitman looks a more realistic prospect.

Citizens Seize De Bruyne

With Raheem Sterling almost in the bag, Manchester City are now hoping to finalise a deal for their other main summer transfer target, Kevin De Bruyne. The Express tells us that the Citizens are willing to cough up £35million for the playmaker who was central to Wolfsburg’s second-place finish in the Bundesliga last season.

The German club are still hoping to hold on to the 24-year-old Belgian, but the Citizens look likely to get their man.
