Transfer Balls: Rounding up the day’s football tittle-tattle so you don’t have to…

Man Utd Hell-Bent On Benteke

Another big name looks set to join Manchester United this summer, with Christian Benteke set to move to Old Trafford. The Sun tells us that the Red Devils are ready to splash out £32.5million on the striker, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool all summer.

While the Reds have tried to get the Villa hitman on the cheap, United’s big money bid should secure the services of the 24-year-old, who bagged 15 goals in 33 games for the Villans last season.

Arsenal Reel In Romagnoli

The Metro (via Gazzetta Dello Sport) reports that Arsenal are eyeing a move for Alessio Romagnoli. The Roma centre-half spent last season on loan at Sampdoria but is considered one of the best youn talents in Italy. AC Milan have already apparently had a number of bids for the 20-year-old rejected, but now the Gunners could swoop.

Romagnoli is priced at £24.4million so one wonders if Arsene Wenger would be willing to cough up anywhere near that amount for the youngster.

Red Devils Keen On Cavani

Back to Man Utd, who are splashing the cash this summer. The Guardian reports that Louis Van Gaal wants PSG striker Edinson Cavani, and is willing to throw in Angel Di Maria as part of the deal. Rumours concerning a move to Paris for the Argentinian have been growing but now it looks as though Uruguayan hitman Cavani could be involved in a deal.

Often frustrated by having to play out wide in order to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic at PSG, the 28-year-old Cavani is open to a move away from the French capital. PSG boss is a big fan of Di Maria too, which could help United bag Cavani. If they do actually want him, that is.

Foxes Pounce On Cole

The Mirror tells us that new Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri wants to sign Carlton Cole. The Italian gave Cole his debut for Chelsea back in 2002 and is a big fan of the West Ham hitman. The 31-year-old came close to leaving the Hammers in January, only for the club to block his move to West Brom.

Cole is now a free agent and while he may never have lived up to his initial promise, the striker would add a valuable physical presence up front for the Foxes.

Milan Mean Business Over Fellaini

Another Manchester United one here, with the Express (via Calcio Mercato Web) claiming that AC Milan are eyeing a move for Marouane Fellaini. The Belgian midfielder has enjoyed a renaissance under Louis Van Gaal, but the arrival of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin have raised questions over the afro-tastic 27-year-old.

According to the reports, Fellaini could be available for just £10million, but talks between the two clubs apparently already underway. This all seems unlikely to me, though.

The best/worst of the rest:

Bayern Munich want Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, Watford are set to sign Dutch winger Steven Berghuis from AZ Alkmaar while West Brom want Nottingham Forest winger Michail Antonio.
