Transfer Balls: Rounding up the day’s football tittle-tattle so you don’t have to…

Man Utd Ready Megabid For Bale

The Star, via the Express, tells us that Manchester United are still eager to lure Gareth Bale to Old Trafford. Red Devil’s boss Louis van Gaal is itching for another big signing ahead of the new season, and even the imminent arrival of Barcelona’s Pedro at Old Trafford in unlikely to quench his thrist for a blockbuster deal.

Bale himself experienced a mixed season at the Bernabeu in 14/15 but would cost the Red Devils at least the £86million Real Madrid paid Tottenham for the Welsh wizard. If United did indeed to make this deal happen, Ed Woodward would surely reach saintly status in the eyes of the red half of Manchester.

Liverpool

Liverpool’s summer spending-spree looks set to continue with Real Madrid’s Denis Cheryshev in Brendan Rodgers’ sights. The Telegraph reports that the Reds are preparing a £14.9million bid for the Russian left-winger, who spent last season on loan with Villarreal.

The 24-year-old Real youth product looks unlikely to break into the first team at the Berneabeu and would provide Liverpool with another attacking option ahead of the 2015/16 season.

Wenger Dismisses Arsenal Benzema Bid

Arsene Wenger has once again dismissed the many rumours linking with the Gunners with a move for Real Madrid hitman Karim Benzema, the Express reports. Spanish outlet AS has been one of the most vocal rumour-mongers, with a £46million move apparently in the offing. However, fresh from breaking his hoodoo against Jose Mourinho in the Community Shield on Sunday, Wenger was having none of it, saying: “No, honestly, no. I don’t know who brings that up.”

The Frenchman does seem set on giving Theo Walcott more chances in a central striking role this season, and with Danny Welbeck yet to return from injury, a striker doesn’t seem like a top priority for the north Londoners.

Sunderland Seal M’Vila Deal

Once considering one of the hottest properties in French football, Yann M’Vila’s career has failed to hit the heights expected. Now, the 25-year-old midfielder could be on his way to Sunderland, according to the Mirror, with Black Cats’ boss Dick Advocaat eager to snap up the tough-tackling star.

M’Vila’s current club Rubin Kazan are keen to jettison the French international and with a loan move to Dynamo Kiev breaking down, Sunderland are now clear to get their man.

Red Devil Rafael Heads For Lyon

The Manchester Evening News tells us that Manchester United full-back Rafael is on his way to Lyon. The Brazilian defender is considered surplus to requirements by Red Devil’s boss Louis Van Gaal and is expected to move to the Ligue 1 giants for a fee of £2.1million.

Initially expected to be United’s long-term replacement for Gary Neville, the 25-year-old Rafael fell out of favour under David Moyes’ regime at Old Trafford and now finds himself well down the pecking order at the club.
