With the second Manchester derby of the season set to crack off in the EFL Cup tonight, the staff at a local supermarket have been busy geeing themselves up with a special Halloween-themed tribute.
Indeed, derby day is always a big deal for the workforce at the Asda store in Eastlands – situated literally across the road from the Etihad Stadium – with half of the staff hailing from the red side of the Mancunian divide and half from the blue.
As such, they’ve got and laid on a special pumpkin-based offering ahead of tonight’s game, with one team carving themselves a Jose-o’-lantern and the other a Pep-kin (sorry, that’s the best we could do).
Pretty darned good, no?
“Our colleagues have had fantastic fun designing the pumpkins, they look just like the two Manchester-based managers,” Eastlands store manager Andy told the Daily Sport.
“It certainly looks like a score draw in terms of design but we doubt that this will be the case come Wednesday.”
We’re giving the win to Mourinho here, if only for capturing his exact facial expression when United went 1-0 down to Chelsea inside 30 seconds.
