A below-par Arsenal fought back against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, with sub Olivier Giroud’s late goal cancelling out a Juan Mata striker and earning a precious away point for the Gunners.

Ex-Man Utd star and TV pundit Rio Ferdinand posted his reactions to both goals on Instagram, reactions which sum up very nicely the joy and pain of being a football fan.

The Red Devils were the sharper of the two sides for long periods of the heavyweight clash, and it was the hosts who eventually opened the scoring on 68 minutes, with Mata firing home from a clever Ander Herrera pull-back.

Not surprisingly, that goal had Ferdinand, in the back of a car no less, gloating and giving Arsenal fans a hard time on Instagram…

However, late on, Giroud came of the bench to powerfully head home after a superb centre from fellow-sub Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Understandably, that 89th minute strike crushed Ferdinand. But at least he posted his forlorn, speechless reaction…

Admittedly it’s all a bit hammy, but it’s amusing nonetheless.

Ferdinand won’t be the only Man Utd fan disappointed to lose two points so late on. Indeed, on the balance of play, Jose Mourinho’s men probably deserved the win against an Arsenal side who looked rather limp throughout.

Still, although Mourinho extends his unbeaten Premier League run against Arsene Wenger, the Frenchman will be relieved to get something from the game and keep alive the Gunners’ impressive unbeaten streak.
