After scoring the acrobatic goal that effectively sealed Manchester United’s Europa League win, Henrikh Mkhitaryan passed a personal milestone.
Indeed, the 28-year-old Armenian forward won his very first European title – a fate that was promised to him long ago by none other than Youri Djorkaeff.
After seeing his protege lift the trophy, Djorkaeff (himself of Armenian descent) posted a personal message of congratulation to the United match-winner, along with a wonderful old photograph of the pair together…
*that day you told me you would one day win the Cup too…you deserve it my friend!!!!Congratulation @HenrikhMkh💪bravo @ManUtd🏆@armenia 🇦🇲 pic.twitter.com/6waoak6cPk

It wasn’t long before Mkhitaryan responded, thanking Djorkaeff for the faith he’d shown in him over the years…
Thank you so much @youridjorkaeff ! Seems like just yesterday we took this picture and now I get to fulfill my goals just like you🏆🇦🇲 #mufc https://t.co/h9hJh6X0Pt

How sweet. There’s quite literally nothing not to like about Mkhitaryan.
Seems like a lovely chap through and through.
