With both Manchester teams vying for his attention, Bernardo Silva has arrived in the city to see what both City and United are willing to offer.

According to James Robson of the Manchester Evening News, the Monaco attacking midfielder blew into town on Thursday night and will now meet with representatives from both sides of the Mancunian divide.

However, it would appear that Pep Guardiola and his associates are in pole position…

The prices being quoted? Somewhere between €69-81million. Woosh.

Speaking earlier in the week, Jose Mourinho appeared to concede defeat in the skirmish to secure Silva’s services, telling O Jogo:

Will Bernardo Silva be with us next season? I don’t think so, honestly.

But you never know, good players are always welcome here.

Which you feel leaves City in a very strong position to sign a player they don’t really need.

Not that that’s every stopped them before.

  1. Bruno says:

People might disagree but in my opinion Guardiola is not very good in signing players. I just came across this list and I would rate only Piqué, Mascherano, Alves, Villa, Thiago, Alonso and Vidal as really top signings (considering the performances, not the ability of the players). He paid 30m for Chygrynskiy, 15m for Keirrison. Simeone would buy the next two best players in the world with that kind of money.

    BARCELONA:
    Zlatan Ibrahimovic
    David Villa
    Dani Alves
    Cesc Fàbregas
    Alexis Sánchez
    Dmytro Chygrynskiy
    Javier Mascherano
    Aleksandr Hleb
    Martín Cáceres
    Seydou Keita
    Keirrison
    Adriano
    Henrique
    Gerard Piqué
    Maxwell
    Ibrahim Afellay

    BAYERN:
    Mario Götze
    Arturo Vidal
    Douglas Costa
    Medhi Benatia
    Thiago
    Juan Bernat
    Xabi Alonso
    Joshua Kimmich
    Kingsley Coman
    Sven Ulreich
    Pepe Reina
    Sinan Kurt
    Serdar Tasci

    CITY:

    John Stones
    Leroy Sané
    Gabriel Jesus
    Ilkay Gündogan
    Claudio Bravo
    Nolito
    Marlos Moreno
    Gerónimo Rulli
    Oleksandr Zinchenko
    Pablo Marí

  2. Bryan says:

I do agree there are some big misses on there but Dani Alves has been one of the best right backs in the world for a decade. Surely he’s in the list of quality signings. Along with David Villa, Sane, Jesus, Gundogan if he could stay healthy, Joshua Kimmich and Kingsley Koman.

  3. Liam says:

Oooooooh, exactly what Manchester City need – a diminuitive attacking midfielder.

  4. Jeremy says:

David Silva isn’t getting any younger. While he can still play at a high level, I don’t see him continuing at that level for another 2-3 years. The rest of the signings have been at or around the 20-23 age range. Bringing in Bernardo Silva maintains a group of players who can play with one another for several years.
