Gareth Bale has signed a new four-year contract with Champions League qualifiers Tottenham. Thank fork for that! A statement on the club’s official website read: “The club is delighted to announce that Gareth Bale has signed a new four-year contract which runs until 2014.
“The Wales international joined the club as a 17-year-old from Southampton in May 2007 and has gone on to make 75 appearances in our colours, scoring five goals.”
I was very worried that Man Utd would steal him away this summer, so that’s a huge boost for the Lilywhites. Good call, Gareth.

Similarly good news for Man Utd fans: centre-back Jonny Evans has signed a new four-year contract. Not surprising really – Fergie rates Evans highly, even though I maintain Gerard Pique is superior.

Fabio Capello will pick Ledley King in his provisional 30-man squad for the 2010 World Cup after the Tottenham defender’s recent outstanding form convinced the England manager to take a chance on his dodgy fitness. So says the Guardian. King has to go, imo. He can play one match a week – he’s proved that in 2010 – and there’s no doubt he has the ability. [LINK]
