Not only did Aaron Mooy receive countless accolades for his man-of-the-match performance in Huddersfield’s famous 2-1 win over Manchester United at the weekend, he also ended the day £5 better off than he started it.

A young Terriers fan by the name of Adam happened across a loose fiver at the John Smith’s Stadium and, rather than keep it to spend on bubblegum and Bazooka Joe comics, instead saw fit to donate to Mooy for the integral part he played in Huddersfield’s first win over United for 65 years.

Adam bundled the fiver into an envelope and sent it to the club’s commercial director, Sean Jarvis, along with a hand-written letter…

Adam’s cockle-warming letter reads:

I was at the Huddersfield against Manchester United match.

I found a £5 note at the stadium and gave it to Dad because we cannot keep what is not ours.

Can you please ask Mr (David) Wagner if Aaron Mooy can keep the money because he played very well and scored yesterday.

I have put the £5 note in the envelope.

Thank you.

The message (and the cash, hopefully) was obviously passed along to Mooy himself, who replied directly to Jarvis’ post saying that he’d love to meet Adam and thank him in person…

As yet, there has been no reply from Adam, but droves of Huddersfield fans have made it their mission to track him down and pass on the invitation on Mooy’s behalf.

As ever, we’ll keep you posted.
