At the height of his fame, back in the late 1960s, George Best was positively everywhere.

The Manchester United forward quickly attained ‘pop star’ status and as such his face was used to shill such glamorous products as sausages, eggs, and cheese and onion crisps.

Best’s ‘playboy’ image was regularly used as a means to make everyday items seem affluent, and never was this more starkly employed than in this 1969 television commercial for the good people at Wilson’s preserved seafood…

Mmm mmm. All the girls go wild for those hot and spicy mackerel fillets.

Of course, in this brave new age of fake news and state-sponsored miscommunication, we feel it’s our duty to point out that this isn’t fully kosher.

In fact, it’s just a brilliant spoof of Best’s schwingtastic advert for Fore aftershave by the always-good @CFBClips.
