He may sound more like an old basset hound, but Manchester United have blown the best part of £50million to sign Brazilian midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk.
The initial fee involved is said to be around £47million, rising to £52-ish-million thereafter, with the 25-year-old agreeing a five-year contract at Old Trafford.

Fred is currently at the World Cup with Brazil but missed the opening match against Switzerland with an ankle injury.
However, he was still able to come through his United medical without a hitch, so it shouldn’t be long before he’s unleashed in Russia.
