Just as he promised he would, Marouane Fellaini has made a decision on his future and – you may want to find something to bite down on – the Belgian midfielder is officially sticking with Manchester United.

Fellaini confirmed the news on social media on Friday afternoon, issuing a mini-statement in which he revealed he plans to “continue his journey” with United for another couple of years.

Fellaini appeared to slip out of Jose Mourinho’s good books during the latter stages of the 2017/18 season after rejecting United’s initial offer and then dithering over a renewal.

The 30-year-old then adopted the Antoine Griezmann tactic of keeping everyone on whatever the opposite of tenterhooks are by promising to break his silence re: his future on 1st July.

Two days earlier than scheduled, here we are. Fellaini’s signing up for another tour of elbow-led duty.

In all seriousness, he’s not a bad option to have in stock should a resilient opposition need bludgeoning by someone a little more substantial than Fred, but that’s unlikely to come as much consolation for the thousands of United fans feeling hopelessly underwhelmed by this turn of events.
