Manchester United halted a two-game losing streak with a deserved victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.

The home side had been dumped out of the Europa League by Olympiakos on Thursday and were second-best throughout.

Before the game, one of those silly banners was flown over the stadium by United supporters. ‘Ed Woodward – a specialist in failure’ it proclaimed in a pop at the club’s executive vice-chairman.

Maybe it’s just us, but hasn’t Jose Mourinho has been given quite  decent amount of money to build his team?

Anyway, in the game itself,  both goals came in the first-half, with Romelu Lukaku bagging a brace.

On 27 minutes, the Belgian fired home from close-range.

Just before the break, Lukaku doubled his side’s advantage via a header from an Alexis Sanchez cross.

United should’ve increased their lead in the second-half, only for Joe Hart to save Paul Pogba’s penalty after sub Marcus Rashford was fouled in the box.

Soon after, Rashford was in the thick of the action again, this time seeing red after a rather mild attempt at a headbutt on Phil Bardsley.

Burnley looked to take advantage of their extra man, but they couldn’t turn their pressure into goals, with United holding on.

The welcome victory for United will take a pinch of the pressure off Mourinho, at least for the moment.

As for the Clarets, with just one points from their first four games, they’ll need to kickstart their domestic campaign sooner rather than later.

Congratulations to Senhor José Mourinho, his footballers and Manchester Utd fans.

Lukaku scored two goals and missed another twelve, he needs to be more prolific. Smalling is the best center back we have, like it or not. Good performance yesterday, that was our strongest starting XI with Pogba, Matic and Fellaini in midfield (ahead of Fred, Herrera and Pereira). Say what you want about Fellaini, at least he’s constant and trustable and doesn’t fade away.
