grossi.jpgOh, the fickle world of football:
Tuesday 31st July: Fergie reveals a crop of promising youngsters he dubs ‘the future’ of the club. “My biggest management job next season will be with the young players – Johhny Evans, Gerard Pique, Danny Simpson Lee Martin, Chris Eagles, Frazier Campbell and Guiseppe Rossi,” he said.
“They’re terrific players and there’s no way we’d even think about letting them go out on loan. They are the future.”
Wednesday 1st August: Manchester United agree to sell young striker, Guiseppe Rossi to Villareal for a reported fee of £6.7m.
With the Tevez saga still to be sorted out and Alan Smith supposedly next out of the door, could United start the season short of strikers?

    WE NEED RID OF SAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Andy says:

Don’t think its september quite yet…

  3. TJ says:

    Check your chronology Pies lolz…

  4. devil says:

It may not be September yet but United could still be leaving it late if yet another spanner is thrown into the Tevez works…and fergie has claimed he has no back up plan so selling practically all his fit strikers could be complacent

  5. Liam says:

Terrible Decision . I couldn’t believe it when I heard it. He is going to be a top class striker and the fact that Darren Bent was £16m and we only got £6m for him makes it worse.

  6. Joel says:

Can’t believe they’ve sold him – Especially not for that much anyway… While I love Solskjaer, he’s just not good enough anymore whereas Smith just isn’t good enough full stop and Saha is too injury prone. Rossi is young, quick and knows how to score goals as he proved last season when he went on loan to Parma and I can’t help but think Fergie might be regretting this decision within a season or 2.

  7. Bezzo says:

Let’s hope we buy Tevez before the end of the month otherwise we will be woefully short of fit strikers.

  8. OmegaSupreme says:

Why sell your best young talents ? Maybe Fergie just thought he was too light weight for the prem. Personally I reckon Fergie might regret this one in a few years.

  9. dp says:

6.7 million is very hard to turn down especially for an unproven young guy

  10. Liam says:

Sir Alex has put a clause in the Rossi contract that says United can buy him back. So that means that if he is regretting his decision in a few years he is covered.

  11. ben c says:

I love Rossi but i think it was a good move. because of the clause in the contract they basically paid utd 7 mil for a 6 year loan. he’s def going to be back in a red jersey someday.

  12. Sartre says:

That’s just great. ManU are practically playing with like what, 1 reliable striker next season? If the Tevez deal goes bad and Rooney gets injured what happens then? Fergie should’ve bought a new striker instead of opting for Anderson.
