Man Utd midfielder Anderson – remember him? – may be investigated by Portuguese police after his supercar was involved in a heavy crash on a road in Braga, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The Brazilian escaped with only minor injuries after the white Audi R8, which was carrying two other passengers (it’s a two-seater!), veered off the road on a bend and smashed into a wall. It’s believed he’d spent the night at a nightclub before the accident.

Anderson was dragged unconscious from the car, minutes before it burst into flames.

“I am very lucky because the accident was serious,” he said. “I knew the road well. But the car lost control at a curve and we crashed against a wall. I remember people coming to help, which I am very grateful for. It was a very big scare for me but I am fine.”

You won’t be fine when Fergie gets hold of you, son.

So, yet another case of a young, dumb footballer with all his brains located in his feet. Lovely.

Anderson is due to return to Manchester this week to continue his rehabilitation on a knee-ligament injury sustained in February 2010.

Does he have a future at Old Trafford, or should Fergie sell him?

He has all the ability in the world, fast, strong, two feet, can pass and, unlike the other midfielders we have at United, actually wants to play the ball forward, but he’s a very stupid boy and it may be one incident too many sadly.
