I always like to see one of the big four taken down a peg, and so I smiled when both Arsenal and Liverpool crashed out of the FA Cup at the weekend. The manner of their defeats was very different.
The Gooners might have expected to lose at Old Trafford, but even their fans must have been startled by how bad they were – as many pundits said, they didn’t turn up, or seem up for the fight in any way. They were lucky to get out of Manchester with just a 4-0 thumping. And it’s always good to see Arsene Wenger choke on some humble pie now and again, even if he finds it impossible to swallow.
Liverpool, meanwhile, didn’t take their chances against Barnsley and deservedly found themselves on the end of a genuine giant-killing. But which team’s defeat did you enjoy more – Arsenal’s or Liverpool’s? Vote below…
