United draw blank against Claudio Ranieri’s team
Cristiano Ronaldo’s ankle, Wayne Rooney’s virus, plus injuries to Gary Neville, Owen Hargreaves, Michael Carrick and Ji-Sung Park have left Fergie with selection issues ahead of Sunday’s Community Shield clash with Portsmouth at Wembley.
The United manager’s alarming lack of attacking options – buy a striker, man! – were visible last night against Juve, with Carlos Tevez again responsible for most of the forward duties. Tevez was given a tough night by the visiting defenders – an injury to the Argentine now would be catastrophic – and failed to find the net. Still, it’s only a friendly, so I don’t read much into the result.
