Don’t know what you’re smiling about sunshine

Neville, Gary…Van der Sar, Edwin…Owen, Michael…Carrick, Michael…Hargreaves, Owen…Brown, Wesley…Kuszczak, Tomas…Evra, Patrice…De Laet, Ritchie…Gibson, Darron – come in please, your time is up.”

The contracts of a whole raft of Manchester United’s first-teamers (and a smattering of their reserves) are up for re-appraisal in the next few months, and the Times seem fairly certain that the aforementioned dectuplet (i’m pretty sure that’s not a word, but I’m sticking with it) of players will be released into the wild come the summer – though the paper reckon that Carrick may just be lucky enough to sneak a new, short-term deal.

Several other of United’s first-string are set to open contract negotiations with the club, though it’s fairly certain that Dimitar Berbatov, Park Ji-Sung, Darren Fletcher and, of course, John ‘The Cockroach’ O’Shea will all survive the clear-out.

    Evra?!?! NOOOOOO

  2. George says:

    Patrice Evra, really?

  3. Chris says:

Unfortunately, it looks like Pat’s off to the Bernabeu.

  4. WAT ? Wat a Load of Bull$hit…… Please stop WUMing ppl you Miserable Cnut !!!

  5. Karl Moon says:

Why are people surprised about Evra? He’s really not had a good season this year, keeps going missing. He can’t cross and doesn’t score anywhere near as many as he should given how often he’s up there.

Carrick has been the most consistent player over the last two months and should get a new deal. I’m hoping VDS does agree a new deal too. The rest can go.

  6. EricCantone says:

Absolute load of toilet, typically stories like this always appear at this stage in the season especially when Man Utd are doing well.

Typical media bullshit trying to cause a stir.

    Cut it out.

  7. Tim says:

Yeah, I have also been hearing about Pat. A sad thing if he does leave the club

  8. mizman says:

Patty Evra wont leave, just spanish media creating there usual shit

and @Karl moon you coudlnt be more wrong on every point u made.

  9. sean wright philips says:

LMAO @John the cockroach Ohea ,, hahah really whats with this guy .. !

  10. Dan says:

Quite a shake up, though considering half of those listed are mostly bench warmers I’m not surprised they want to clear house and make room for some new blood they can potentially try to pay less.

Decuple – tenfold, Ducuplet – a musical term but can be applied, although not that common for there to be 10 in a litter of people. You were quite close. Yet again the Linguistics degree only comes in handy correcting someone’s English.

  11. Chris says:

@Dan: To be honest, ‘quite close’ is a damn sight closer than I was expecting!

  12. Fnarf says:

    @10, you mispslept “decuplet”.

  13. Rude Dog says:

@mizman, I’m guessing you’re a Carrick hater, do you actually watch United play?

Along with Anderson he has been the most consistent United player the past few months. I would also like VDS to stay, only because I’m worried who Ferguson will bring in, VDS has been our best keeper since Schmeichel and although he’s 40 he doesn’t seem to be getting any worse.

  14. Blewmoon48 says:

dectuplet is a word for ten babies born at the same time. Perhaps you got it spot on!!!

  15. shay says:

I don’t see Carrick, Evra or Gibson leaving.

  16. NHIC says:

EVRA should not be part that squard though he is not having a good season

  17. zoogs says:

This talk of Carrick being consistent is absolute bollocks, unless you referring to him consistently giving the ball away cheaply in the middle of the pitch or consistently passing the ball sideways or backwards. His form is nothing to write home about.

Neville and VDS are retiring after this season so I’m not surprised they made the list and the others a bit part players with the exception of Evra who I hope stays at OT.

  18. KEANO says:

John O’shea is the best player in the world!

its past time that owen hargreaves left

  19. Roger says:

Carrick is like a road block for United in midfield! When was the last time he actually made a pass to set up a goal? Always loses out to faster stronger midfielders especially in CL play. Most of the names are benchwarmers anyways. Carrick and Fletcher need to go. A spanish midfielder along with Ando could work.

  20. Ruperto says:

    No Not Park And Evra

  21. Jamie says:

@roger fletcher needs to go?? fletcher is the heart of the united team u obviously dont wotch enough football, and the boy pops up with a few important goals aevery now and again!!

  22. Seanie-O says:

Roger, Fletcher does not need to go anywhere.

  23. Montesquieu says:

It claims you’re a Nottingham supporter, but I could almost swear you’re a closet Manc.

  24. kahhoe says:

Fuck Michael Owen! this bastard should sell immediately!

  25. bradford says:

come back to the hammers, carrick my boy!

  26. penias says:

HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!….THIS TALK DONES NOT MAKE SENES TO ME….WHY SHUD FERG LET PAT LEAVE OLD-FORD,WHEN HE IS PLAYING EVERY GAME?

  27. Tom Jones says:

    Out Demons Out!

  28. osman says:

    that’s rubish

  29. wafa says:

Agree with d list. Carrick/Fletcher, keeps giving away ball cheaply. Slowing games with meaningless passes. No longer a reliable midfield force. Anderson is agressive and fun to watch. Evra, contracted gary’s symptom, forever raising his hands in protest, always out of position, always prote
sting, always losing out to faster runners etc.. slowly infecting the Brazilian twins too…
