As a fan of the Premier League and an Englishman, it’s – strangely – a little hurtful to watch the £80m man strut out at the Bernabeu in all-white. Ron looks so happy and proud, it’s like seeing an ex with a new partner. And maybe, you wonder, he never really loved Man Utd and the Prem in the first place, even if without them he wouldn’t be in this exalted position now.
