‘I’m Good Enough To Play’ – Usain Bolt Offers His Services To Man Utd (Video)

With one fleet-footed winger seemingly already on the way to Old Trafford this summer, it looks like Manchester United may have another on their hands before too long.

Bolt (an avid United fan) told BBC Sport:

“I want to try soccer after I retire because I’ve watched football for years and I think I could be a good contender.I am really looking forward to it.

“I definitely think I’m good enough to play for Manchester United because I am quick and have some skills. I have to refine it a little bit but I should be good enough.”

Much as we’d love to see him roasting Premier League full-backs on a weekly basis (should he actually sign on at United in the future) that wouldn’t be the case as – in his own words – the fastest man in the world is a specialised ‘left-sided defensive midfielder’.

    Hottt Dude = Sex God in disguise..?

    Either way I feel they may be tossed from the same pre-pubescent fist…

  4. spark says:

    Does he realize football requires more skills than just running really fast from point a to point b?

  5. Nathan says:

    Absolute moron, the guy runs 100-200 METERS which does not translate to the 8.5 KILOMETERS the average football player runs in a game.

  6. Solihull United says:

    Something on the roof must be really facinating because he is looking up the whole interview!

  7. Ze Roberto says:

    @ Wiggs LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Tinez says:

    he’ll run 100 metres, in the first 9.7 seconds and have to be substituted immediately for Rafael, a situation no one wants.

  9. MaxMad says:

    @Nathan: A sprinter uses less oxygen while running (anaerobic excercise), which makes him more fit than most premier league players.

  10. jesse says:

    @nathan you really don’t think he could adapt? he is after all just an elite athelete

  11. Nathan says:

    @jesse

    Personally; no I don’t think so. He admitted on Top Gear that he quit competing in 400 meter competition because he couldn’t handle the training. Not to mention the fact that, as others have mentioned, playing football is more than just running fast.

    Someone should tell theo walcott that

  13. Nathan says:

    @ELDV

    And Aaron Lennon…

    i’m sure he can train himself to go a full 90. maybe he does have some skill, maybe he’s played all his life, maybe he’s insanely arrogant, the point is, fergie signed bebe from nowhere. what’s to say he wouldn’t (if he’s still at the helm) take a chance and stick bolt on the reserve team. what’s the worst that could happen? even if he fails, it’s good PR, and since usain and c-ron are such good pals, maybe bolt lures him back to united.

  15. Gera says:

    Haha he couldn’t make It to a mls team

  16. Tanya says:

    If football was just about running then I don’t think that Berbatov would be in ManU.

    Sadly I’m sure that around the closing of the transfer window Fergie will issue statements such as ‘ This guy, Dimitar Ber-something for sale. $10’

  17. The Yank says:

    @Tanya

    That “Ber-something” was the PL’s top scorer of the season. He’s not going anywhere. It just goes to show the calm, collected, and elegant approach is just as effective (if not more effective) as the “run everywhere because that’s the only way I can hope to be influential” style of some players. Let’s hope Fergie thinks the same way and doesn’t sell one of the best players in the country.

  18. Kolejorz says:

    He should talk to Djibril Cisse. He was also really fast and untalented in all other aspects of the game.
