Lest we forget, Owen scored more than 100 goals for Liverpool and remains their only player to win the Ballon d’Or.

It’s too easy to forget about that. I wonder what percentage of Liverpool fans inside Anfield on Sunday will overlook Owen’s excellent achievements and boo him? There will be some boos, you can be sure, but will there be enough dissenters to be heard above the usual chants?

I hope not. Owen remains one of Liverpool’s finest goal-scorers in the modern era, and no reasonable Kopite could blame him for trying to resurrect his career at Old Trafford… What am I saying? Of course they could – Owen is the enemy now. That’s the way football works. Short memories, black humour and all that.

Do you think it’s OK for Liverpool fans to boo Owen? Vote below or leave a comment…

He’s not worth it. He never was one of us and he’s just proved it. The best reaction would be to ignore the silly slapper.

  2. Kevin McCarthy says:

Yes Liverpool fans should boo Owen. He is also making it worse for himself with the following recent statements:

    1. He is at the biggest club in the world
    2. He looks out for Real Madrid and Newcastle results first
    3. He will celebrate if he scores at Anfield tomorrow

  3. Chris says:

To be honest I hope he does an Alan Smith on the turf

  4. Anonymous says:

He is a tosser he never scored 20 goals in his life the little shit and now he turns around and says he looks out for Newcastle results wot twat

  5. David Allison says:

Slightly off topic, but has anyone else noticed the amount of City Sky Blue in that United crowd photo…?

  6. greg says:

We should just ignore him, he is not worth our breath. He is a true evertonian/manc, he forgets the club that made him

  7. RJ says:

dont boo him, dont ignore him, just have mass silence, isnt that the way to commerate the dead?

  8. joyal says:

no we should not ignore and boo owen as hes the only player in liverpools history to win the ballon d’or and he scored more than 150 goals for liverpool and becoz him liverpool won the fa cup ,carling cup, uefa cup and the uefa super cup he was liverpool’s highest scorer in all his season at anfield it would be a shame if we boo the boy wonder michael owen.

  10. joyal says:

and he’s england’s 4th all time highest scorer and he was just 18 when he played in the 1998 world cup he is now a true liverpool and england legend and no one can deny this fact. The man who did’nt sign owen is rafa benitez a bloody spanish who has failed in making liverpool win the league he should be sacked n owen should be resigned .

  11. robzta says:

Not sure why he should be booed. Liverpool had the chance to buy him back from Real Madrid and did not take it up. Fans that do (boo) seem to be the ones that breaks up from their partner but don’t want for them to be with anyone else

  12. ck says:

omg!! joyal i totally agree with u mate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
fucker benitez hes the problem of all!!

  13. tintin4 says:

Oh yeah!,then who won the FA cup for liverpool, who scored 158 goals for liverpool?
Ans.The Silly Slapper,he devoted his life for liverpool.Think about it,he recieved offers from Liverpool,ManU,Arsenal and even chelsea. Why did he choose Liverpool, coz he liked us and unlike some players like Tevez,Ronaldo who enact so much,as if he has done miracles for his club. But,michael did,he loved liverpool and done some good. What did Tevez do for ManU,just 19 goals from 63 appearances, what did our dear owen do he loved his club and did anything for it.we should not do anything to owen wrongly, but wish him all the best for the future

  14. baok says:

A true Reds would never join a mancs.. Owen doesn’t deserve the hero status.. He was a great player for us, but not anymore..

  15. alex says:

ollie, its dark humor not black humor.

    dark humor- martin macdonagh
    black humor- chris rock

  16. insoniq says:

You have to appreciate what he’s done for the club and go on with it. Yes he’s said some stupid statements recently, and he’s signed with the ‘enemy’, but that shouldn’t take away of what he’s achieved at the club. You can’t blame him for wanting to revive his career by taking the best offer he was receiving at the time. I guess Rafa should have tried to sign him…after all he was on a free, would’ve made a good partnership with Torres.

    definitely yes….
