Retro Football: Kenny Dalglish’s Shambolic Open Goal Miss vs Man Utd, 1980
By Chris Wright
I’ll just leave this clip of King Kenny shanking one wide from about 30cm after the buccaneering Alan Hansen had busted Manchester United’s insanely stupid offside trap wide open at Old Trafford in April of 1980 here, and leave you to insert your own ‘Fernando Torres’ jokes as you see fit…

this was worse than torres and rooney’s misses …
Wasn’t he offside anyway? Ball played forward, only keeper between him and goal……
Truly shambolic defensive line only bettered by an even more shambolic miss… guess even the King makes mistakes
Surely as long as you’re behind Hansen then you’re onside?
Great little move by Hansen at the start.
MENTAL offside trap
dont think Queen Kenny was infront of hansen when he pplayed the ball therefore onside
I think Man Utd were told they were playing a 90 minute game of “bulldog”.
Wow, great defense, no wonder ManU had only 6 titles before Fergie.
They don’t make pitches like they used to.
one pitch, two red shite.
@Varun
6 titles before Sir Alex. Okay. That means before Ferguson, Manchester United were better than Chelsea, Newcastle United, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds, Wolves, Huddersfield Town, Blackburn, Preston North End, Tottenham, Derby, Manchester City, Burnley, Portsmouth, Sheffield United, West Brom, Ipswich, and Nottingham Forest. Not to mention the hundreds of clubs who’ve never won the First Division title.
Forget the miss. I’ve never seen such a bizarre offside trap. Just hilarious. Also I’m wondering why did the linesman flag Kenny offside?
Is it Eric Idle commentating?
the only funny thing about this video is the ridiculous offside trap.
The pitch is about as good as this article, torres missed on carpet like surface
LOL. Dalglish sucks donkey balls!
