The word on Rumour Street is that Manchester United are keen on signing Gianluigi Buffon next summer, as a replacement for Edwin van der Sar. Watching this double save against Maccabi Haifa, made in the Chaaaaaaaampions League last night, it’s no wonder that Buffon is still rated by many as the best keeper in the world.
I thought Gigi was almost as old as VdS, but I was wrong – the Italian is only 31, despite looking much older, and would be an excellent acquisition for United. Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in Buffon too.
Pies would welcome Buffon to the Prem, if only for more sightings of his charming missus.
