Given that he was seen in the crowd watching the club’s 2-0 defeat against Arsenal yesterday alongside beloved and mystical owner Vincent Tan it probably shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, but Cardiff City have just officially confirmed that they are subbing on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the second half of the season, with the former Manchester United striker being unveiled as the Welsh club’s new first-team manager a matter of minutes ago – replacing Malky Mackay at the helm.

A statement on the Cardiff website reads:

“Following discussions with Tan Sri Vincent Tan and Club Chairman Mehmet Dalman, Ole, joining Cardiff City from Molde FK, today met with his new squad at the Vale training ground and will soon be unveiled to the press at Cardiff City Stadium.”

My God, how the years have been unkind to the one-time ‘Baby-Faced Assassin’ – mercilessly ravaged, withered and wizened by time, he now looks about 15.
