You’ll have to forgive us here as we’re translating from Swedish and, to be honest, it may as well be Klingon, but it would appear that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Pep-bashing autobiography ‘Jag Är Zlatan’ has been shortlisted for an illustrious Swedish literature prize.
The August Prize is given out every year by the Swedish Publishers’ Association and Zlatan’s tome has been nominated in the Non-Fiction catergory, with the jury describing it as:
“A sensitive and rough depiction that takes the reader from the terraces down the pitch and around the world of Zlatan.
“[The reader is] gently and firmly shown both the polished and unpolished every-day life, opening doors to both the kitchen in Rosengård and the changing rooms in Milan.
“Accurate storytelling that leaves a lasting impression.”
In the non-fiction field, Ibra is up against (and this is where the translation falls down a bit) a book about being seduced by an economic man, a travelogue of a journey through Suriname, a poetry almanac about women in the 1800s and a book about American right-wing politics and abortion.
Fingers crossed.
This way for the Top 15 Quotes from ‘Jag Är Zlatan’.
