Owen Hargreaves was a very fine, if injury-prone, footballer but his punditry skills are less Toni Kroos and more Tom Cleverley.

In an advert for BT Sport’s coverage of the upcoming Premier League season, he picks Cesc Fabregas, Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Yaya Touré and Mesut Ozil as ones to watch.

What an out-of-the-box thinker Mr Hargreaves is.

Well, Rooney and Ozil might play well against a small team but never perform well against the big teams. We are all tired of seeing it.

    • Scott says:

Judging by this comment you probably don’t watch much of them. Rooney has been one of United’s most consistant big game players over his career. Ozil performed well against big teams at Madrid, and after a so-so first season at Arsenal will probably have a strong year.

    Hahahah … Captain OOOOOOOOOOObvious!!!!

  3. Porcelain Sandwich says:

They’re so up and coming that I’ve not even heard of 4 of them. This ‘Wayne Rooney’ character sounds like he will be a delightful addition to Manchester United.

  4. Jarren says:

I think Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea & Liverpool will be the teams to watch next season.

They seem to have a lot of quality players, plus one of them will probably win the PL.

  5. Captain Fantastic says:

@Jorge that’s hardly a fair assertion. Rooney may not always play spectacularly for United but you can hardly say that he only beats up on little teams. He’s scored against Barca in the Champions League Final, he’s not only the highest goal scorer of the Manchester Derby with 11 but he also scored the greatest goal of his career against them. He’s scored 9 against Arsenal.

    What!?!? No Heskey??

  7. Adam says:

They’re shite. The lot of them. Players to watch: Anderson, Torres, Borini, Lamela… watch them light it up
