Sevilla Bombard Pitch With Tennis Balls In Protest Over Kick-Off Being Bumped Back By El Clasico (Video)
By Chris Wright
After seeing their game against Levante bumped back from 10:00pm to 10:30pm to give El Clasico the prime time limelight, Sevilla launched a protest against the powers that be as soon as the match kicked off at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan – immediately bombarding the pitch with a hail of tennis balls (like FC Basel before them) to disrupt the game along with the unfurling of a huge banner which read something akin to “Stop the match, Mourinho is talking”…
After the balls were cleared and things finally got under way, the game went on to finish 1-1, a result which leaves Sevilla down in eighth and Levante knocking on the door of the Europa League place in fifth – one point behind fourth-placed Malaga with four matches to play.
