If this ever became the norm (and it probably won’t), it presents some interesting strategy questions. Would it be better for a club to put their keeper out there? Or would you replace the keeper with your best one-on-one defender?

actually, if you really went to go old school, the North American Soccer League (NASL) used to do this back in the 1970′s.

Seems like the goalkeeper has the advantage, whereas with penalties the striker has the advantage.
