Monterrey secured a 3-0 victory over Club Tijuana in Mexico’s Liga MX at the weekend, with the clash played on a rain-soaked pitch.
Indeed, the rain was so heavy and the pitch so wet, that the third and final goal of the game was a bizarre spectacle.
Home side Monterrey were already 2-0 up, when on 75 minutes, they launched a counter-attack against both their opponents and the rain-soaked pitch.
Both sides then found themselves bamboozled by the run of the ball on the pitch, with the Tijuana goalie particularly caught.
However, eventually Jesus Gallardo would prod the ball into the back of the net…
Surely the game should have been suspended?
Anyway, it certainly added to the entertainment factor.
There’s plenty of dull encounters which could do with a pitch like that.
