beckhams.jpgFor those of you following David Beckham’s Big Hollywood Adventure, here’s how his diary shapes up for July (this is just the football, God knows what sponsors’ obligations he’ll have to fulfill):
Thurs 12 July: Becks flies from Heathrow to Los Angeles.
Fri 13 July: Press conference (6pm, Live on Sky Sports News) and pitchside presentation at the Galaxy’s Home Depot Center stadium.
Mon 16 July: First training session with the Galaxy, open to fans.
Sat 21 July: Becks’ debut for the Galaxy, in friendly against Chelsea at Home Depot Center.
Tues 24 July: First competitive match, vs Pachuca in the Super Liga Cup (sounds even less important than the League Cup).
Tues 31 July: First competitive away match, vs FC Dallas in the Super Liga Cup.

That’s SuperLiga. It’s a competition between MLS and Primera División de México. It’s a bit contrived, if you ask me. While they could put this kind of marketing and effort behind making the CONCACAF Champions’ Cup into a Champions League–which all the other confederations (save Oceania) have–they took the selfish way out.

Well, upon further review, it looks like I was wrong about one thing–OFC held their first Champions League in early 2007.
