Simple question – say the Premier League were to form a summer five-a-side league, what would be your club’s best line-up? I support Spurs (boo and hiss all you like, I can’t hear you), and I reckon that ours would be:

Paul Robinson
Ledley King
Edgar Davids
Aaron Lennon
Jermain Defoe

That looks pretty good to me. Loads of pace/skill in attack, a top-class keeper and one of the world’s most tenacious midfielders – beat that! Add your team’s 5-aside line-up to the comments…

    Oooh, good one!
    For Newcastle I’d say:
    Shay Given
    Steven Taylor
    Scott Parker
    Damien Duff
Obafemi Martins / a fit Michael Owen

  2. Ashley says:

    for the Gunners I’d say
    Lehmann
    Eboue
    Fabregas
    Hleb
    Henry

  3. Anthony says:

    Good one indeed!
    For Liverpool:
    Reina
    Agger
    Momo Sisoko
    Gerrard
    Kuyt/Bellamy
On the fact that all your players in 5 aside should be able to grab goals Agger gets in because of the belter he scored last week… but maybe even Riise could fill that role.
Momo is gaining a reputation as being a 2-man defensive midfielder so is a banker for 5-a-side.
    Stevie – well duh
Kuyt looks very impressive, but just in case hes turns out to actually be turd, we’ll have everyones least favourite Welshman… after Robbie Savage… on standby. (I can’t say that crouchy is sufficently equipped for a game where the ball isn’t aloud over the ref’s head height.)
It’s hard to leave out the likes of Cara, Pennant, Alonso etc etc, but I’ve gone for a team full of energy, strength, power and a wee bit of skill.

    Jeepers.
Well, for my beloved Bolton Wanderers, it shouldn’t be too difficult as we only have a squad of six.
    Jussi
    Ben Haim
    Campo
    Nolan
    Anelka
with Diouf spitting from the bench.

    Great topic!
For Chelsea, I would go with:
    – Cech
    – Terry
    – Essien
    – Lampard
    – Shevchenko

  6. george vader says:

    Man Utd
    Van Der Saar
    Heinze
    Carrick
    Ronaldo
    Rooney

For my beloved ‘ammers, I would go with the following:
    Carroll
    Anton Ferdinand
    Yossi Benajoun
    Javier Mascherano
    Tevez
This might not have been my team at the beginning of last week, but once in a while a miracle comes along.

  8. Felix says:

    Barca : –
    Valdes
    Puyol
    Messi
    Ronaldinho
    Eto
    Skill, speed, loads of goals

  9. Ross says:

For Wigan its quite difficult as were not the fastest/fittest side in the world. But I’d have.
    Kirkland
    Baines
    Landzaat
    McCulloch
    Camara
