Spurs some how let a 1-3 lead slip to draw with a Fulham side they had outclassed for most of the game. Bye-bye, Martin Jol.
Liverpool 6-0 Derby
Were Liverpool very good or Derby very bad? Probably both. Braces from Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso, and goals from Ryan Babel and Andiy Voronin secured a comfortable win.
Manchester United 1-0 Sunderland
Roy Keane’s return to Old Trafford was going swimmingly until Sir Alex Ferguson introduced Louis Saha. The Black Cats eventually came unstuck in the 72nd minute.
Middlesbrough 2-0 Birmingham
Goals from David Wheater and Stewart Downing eased Boro to victory as Birmingham put in a poor performance.
Newcastle 1-0 Wigan
Newcastle secured a late victory with Michael Owen back among the goals (and to give Titus Bramble half-a-chance he did it with his eyes closed judging by this picture).
Reading 0-3 West Ham
Nicky Shorey must have been wishing his transfer deadline day switch had gone through as he was definitely on the wrong side in this match. A well-taken goal from Craig Bellamy and a Matt Etherington double sealed victory.
Arsenal 3-1 Portsmouth
The Gunners were at their scintillating best at times as they easily saw off Pompey, despite playing most of the second half with 10 men after Phillipe Senderos’s red card.
Aston Villa 2-0 Chelsea
Undoubtedly the shock of the weekend. Villa defended well and took their chances. The men in day-glo could do nothing to stop them.
Blackburn 1-0 Manchester City
The end of the traditional Sven honeymoon period or just a blip for City? Benni McCarthy’s goal decided this match before Tugay and Richard Dunne were both dismissed for second bookable offences.
