Pies V Lawro, International predictions
GAME OF THE WEEK
England V Israel Lawro 2-0, Pies 3-0
Lawro is claiming width will be the key, and we have to agree with him here. Joe Cole should get his chance to show Jose Mourinho exactly what he’s made of, and why he shouldn’t be stuck on the bench for Chelsea. An early goal is key, if Wembley turn on England, this could go belly up very quickly, but at the end of day, it is Israel we’re playing not Argentina…

Scotland v Lithuania
Scotland are in a strong position in their group. If France beat Italy and Alex McLeish’s boys give Lithuania a comprehensive spanking, they go into Wednesday’s match with France in second place. Lithuania are not the groups whipping boys, but with two goals in five starts in these qualifiers, look to Derby’s new boy Kenny Miller to add to his tally.
SquadGod Fantasy pick: Kenny Miller
Scotland win (3-1)
Wales v Germany
John Toshack has his work cut out as Wales host Germany. The Germans have an injury crisis, but they proved against England recently that they have plenty of strength in depth. Expect Wales to defend deep and try to hit them on the break.
SquadGod Fantasy pick: Gareth Bale
Germany win (1-2)
Slovakia v Ireland
Slovakia have been shipping a lot of goals in these qualifiers so I expect Stephen Staunton to send out an attack minded team. Who else should spear-head the attack, other than Robbie Keane?
SquadGod Fantasy pick: Robbie Keane
Ireland win (0-2)
England v Israel
This game is being viewed as a ‘must win’. With injuries abound, Steve McClaren has been forced to bring in some questionable players and risk the wrath of Rafa, by forcing Steven Gerrard to play through injury with the aid of painkilling injections. Israel have proved to be a tough team already in these qualifiers, but I think we’re in for a great competitive game with a favorable result.
SquadGod Fantasy pick: Micah Richards
England win (2-1)
Latvia v Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland face bottom of the group Latvia from the dizzy heights of second place. Nigel Worthington has forged a solid team, who are spear-headed by David Healy. The Fulham striker is on fire for club and country, and is the competitions top scorer this far.
SquadGod Fantasy pick: David Healy
Northern Ireland win (0-4)
England v Israel 1-0
Scotland v Lithuania 4-1
Latvia v Northern Ireland 0-2
Slovakia v Republic of Ireland 1-1
Wales v Germany 1-0 (Note – I’m not Welsh)
England v Israel 3-0
Scotland v Lithuania 2-0
Latvia v Northern Ireland 0-2
Slovakia v Republic of Ireland 0-1
Wales v Germany 1-0
