HEROES
David Cann A linesman in correct call shocker! Cann didn’t hesitate to blow the whistle when Gallas’ last gasp shot crossed the line, which means the usual calls for video technology can be put on hold for a week – although Spurs fans who remember a similar incident starring Roy Carroll won’t have taken any consolation.
William Gallas It took an old hand to make sure that Arsenal’s young guns didn’t lose their momentum in the Premier League race. The Frenchman is starting to look like the leader Arsenal have been missing since Viera and who wouldn’t swap him for Ashley Cole and some cash now?
Right backs Not usually a position that you’d associate with excitement, you only have to think of Gary Neville, but three players scored wonder goals – Luke Young, Noe Pamarot and Juliano Belletti – from raiding defensive positions.
VILLAINS
Arsenal supporters Depends on where you stand but Fergie wasn’t happy about the 90 minutes of abuse he suffered at the hands of Arsenal’s usually reserved supporters – is there really an accident waiting to happen at the Emirates?
Newcastle defenders Maybe it’s something in the water in Tyneside but, even with a new back four and no Titus Bramble, Newcastle’s defenders keep making comical errors – Cacapa was the worst culprit as a substitution after 17 minutes showed
David Moyes Well, almost. Apparently the bug-eyed Scotsman was going to tell Lee Carsley to stop shooting from long range as it was taking too long to collect the ball from Row Z – Moyes forgot and Carsley scored a cracker in the second half.
Let us know if there were any other good guys or bad guys from the weekend’s games
